Daimler Financial Services has been named Germany’s best employer in 2016. The financial services division of the Daimler Group took first place in this year’s competition run by the independent Great Place to Work Institute, which honors companies that have an especially attractive workplace culture. The evaluation is carried out through anonymized employee surveys and assessments of the quality of the companies’ human resources and management work. More than 100 companies in the category of 2,000 to 5,000 employees had competed for the award.
The Stuttgart headquarters of Daimler Financial Services, the Daimler Group’s worldwide provider of financial and mobility services, participated in the competition jointly with the Group’s subsidiary for the German market, Mercedes-Benz Bank AG. Together, the two companies employ about 3,500 men and women in Germany, primarily at their locations in Berlin, Saarbrücken, and Stuttgart. In 2016 Mercedes-Benz Bank had already been named the best employer in the Baden-Wuerttemberg and Berlin-Brandenburg regions. “The award honors a trustworthy management team that deals with employees fairly and respectfully, the employees’ high degree of identification with their employer, and a strong team spirit,” said Frank Hauser, the Managing Director of Great Place to Work Deutschland.
Klaus Entenmann, CEO of Daimler Financial Services AG, commented, “A good work atmosphere and good performance belong together - even more so in the services sector than anywhere else. Companies that want to have satisfied customers need to have motivated employees. At Daimler Financial Services we therefore continually work on improving our corporate culture. We practice a leadership culture that is based on empowerment, trust, respect, and a clear commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.”
Yvonne Rosslenbroich, the DFS Board of Management member responsible for human resources, said, “We’re always ready to listen to our employees. At our company, everyone can offer ideas and recommendations and give honest feedback. We regard criticism primarily as positive information about how things can be done better.”
Daimler Financial Services offers automotive financing, leasing, and insurance services. At the end of 2015 the company had more than 3.7 million cars and commercial vehicles worth almost €117 billion on its books. In Germany the company operates under the Mercedes-Benz Bank brand. Here customers can not only finance their cars but also open call accounts and fixed-term deposit accounts. In addition, Daimler Financial Services is a pioneer in the development of innovative mobility services with its brands car2go, mytaxi, and moovel.
