Mercedes-Benz Canada reports its best September ever

Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network reported today that a grand total of 2,707 Mercedes-Benz and smart units were retailed in September. This represents a 4.0% sales increase for the month, and propels year-to-date growth to 3.1% with a record-breaking total of 24,043 units delivered at the conclusion of the third quarter of 2011.
A total of 2,343 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were delivered throughout the month. Overall passenger car sales surpassed last September’s record breaking results with a total of 1,456 vehicles retailed. This is ahead 6.7% on a monthly basis, and pushed year-to-date growth for passenger car sales to 4.5%.
Strong C-Class, SLK-Class, CLS-Class, and GL-Class model sales contributed to September’s success. Sales of the C-Class were ahead 19.7% for the month. With a total of 6,560 units delivered so far in 2011, overall C-Class sales are currently tracking 7.1% above 2010 levels. GL-Class sales were also up an impressive 116.0% with 229 units sold in September.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 83.2% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 74.0% of overall passenger car and luxury light truck sales (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 152 vehicles sold in September, which is up 6.3% on a monthly basis. Year-to-date, 1,445 smart fortwos have been delivered to customers across Canada.
A total of 212 Mercedes-Benz Sprinters were delivered throughout the month. Sprinter sales are ahead 30.1% when compared to September 2010 results, and with 1,761 vehicles retailed so far in 2011, Sprinter sales are ahead by 89.8% on a year-to-date basis.
Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned sales reported their best September results ever with 1,281 units sold. This represents an increase of 195 units or 18.0% on a monthly basis, and brings year-to-date growth to 25.2% with a total of 9,986 Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz units retailed.
