Oil Pan with Drain Plug
« on: May 24, 2007, 08:39:30 AM »
Hi, I am a newbie to the Star Lounge (thank you Eddy!) and was wondering if anyone has tried one of these drain pans like I saw on e-bay.... Good idea or no?  Is there a gasket which should be replaced in lieu of the "form a gasket"?   A local mechanic I trust thinks this would be easier than sucking the oil out which he says takes a long time....

There is no fixed gasket available for the oil pan. The factory uses a silicone liquid seal.

There are plus and minus to the drain pan. Some manufacturer have a very fragile nut for the drain hole. Which makes it very easy to strip.

Sucking should take no more then 10 minutes if you do it properly. And it gets 99% of the oil out.
