Spillmann wants to make buses the figurative mark of local public transportation

Stuttgart / Mannheim – Bietigheim-based bus company Spillmann is very creative. The Mercedes-Benz fleet is a reflection of the Spillmann marketing concept: Each of the vehicles is unique, lovingly planned, exceptionally well-equipped and all with their own message. On March 25th, this unique fleet grew by six vehicles. Rüdiger Kappel, Head of Fleet Sales at Daimler Buses Germany, handed over six Mercedes-Benz Citaro hybrid buses to Bülent Menekse, Managing Director of Omnibusverkehr Spillmann GmbH. One of these regular-service city buses already represents the 30th themed vehicle that the company has put into service. It is called “World of Public Transportation”.

Giving public transportation a face

In the Mercedes-Benz Citaro “World of Public Transportation”, Spillmann visualizes the most well-known traffic concepts that have become an independent brand themselves thanks to their design and connection concept. Whether Metro, Subway, Underground or the green “S” for S-Bahn, the “World of Public Transportation” is intended to show what bus transportation lacks: an independent brand identity.

The exterior of the Citaro hybrid bears the typical Spillmann design features: brilliant silver paintwork with contrasting blue stripes and the Metrodesign package, which makes the front section and lateral line appear similar to a train. Inside, Spillmann visualizes the theme. In the "World of Public Tansportation", these are the individually printed side walls with the popular traffic concepts, a floor covering in a vintage road look, a large number of USB charging stations on grab bars and seat rows as well as LED-based ceiling floodlights, whose light color can be varied.

An additional school bus is among the six Citaro hybrids delivered. The black and yellow eye-catcher is the second of its kind, which Spillmann designed specifically for school transportation, causing quite a stir in Bietigheim's regular service when the bus was commissioned in 2019.
