« on: September 23, 2016, 08:31:34 AM »
Hanover – Today, Friday, the Mercedes-Benz Vito received the German Commercial Vehicle Prize 2016 (Deutscher Nutzfahrzeugpreis) at the IAA Commercial Vehicle show in Hanover. The popular prize for vans with a gross vehicle weight of up to three tonnes was presented to the Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, Volker Mornhinweg, by the President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), Matthias Wissmann, and publisher Alexander Holzmann. The all-rounder with the star prevailed against a strong competition after two days of intensive tests. The 15-member judging panel of tradespeople attended the award ceremony. The Commercial Vehicle Prize was run for the 13th time by Holzmann Medien (Deutsche Handwerks Zeitung, handwerk magazin). In addition to tests while stationary and on the move, the scoring took account of an independent economic analysis. The prize-winning Vito 109 CDI panel van convinced especially in terms of its driving dynamics. Yet its economic efficiency also spoke in favour of the Mercedes-Benz van, which impressed in the tests with its 65 kW (88 hp) diesel engine (combined fuel consumption: 6.3 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 166 g/km), front-wheel drive and six-speed manual transmission.

"Tradespeople know precisely what's important in a good van", says Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans. "That's why we are especially delighted that an expert judging panel has chosen to honour the Mercedes-Benz Vito."
