Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network announced that the company achieved its best March ever with sales totaling 4,507 units for an increase of 8.8%. At the conclusion of the first quarter of 2016, the company delivered 10,830 vehicles which pushed the overall growth to 16.7% and helped set a new all-time record for first quarter sales.
So far, the company delivered a grand total of 9,207 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks units which represented a 13% increase year-to-date. These results were further solidified by a series of exceptional sales achievements in March. The company achieved its best-ever M-Class/GLE SUV month with a total of 695 units sold. On the passenger vehicle side, B-Class, CLA and E-Class Sedan sales were up a staggering 42%, 42.3% and 97% respectively. In addition, Mercedes-AMG surpassed its previously established record by retailing a total of 689 units driving year-to-date sales to 1,332 units for an increase of 213%.
In March, the diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 62.9%, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 94.6% of overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).
smart reported brisk sales in March with a total of 263 vehicles retailed.
Mercedes-Benz Vans posted record-breaking first quarter gains of 13.8% with a total of 1,143 units retailed since the beginning of the year. Sales of 511 units in March equated to an impressive month-to-month increase of 31% and represented the best March ever for the group.
The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division recorded a total of 1,637 units sold for an increase of 6.8%, which resulted in the best month ever for pre-owned sales in Canada. These results helped propel overall year-over-year growth to 8.1%. With a grand total of 3,588 pre-owned units delivered so far in 2016, this is the best first quarter ever recorded by the division. Furthermore, year-to-date Certified Pre-Owned sales totaled 2,805 units and accounted for 78.2 % of the total volume of pre-owned sales.
