Esteban Ocon steps in for absent Daniel Juncadella
« on: October 16, 2015, 09:28:52 AM »
Esteban Ocon (19, France) has been drafted in at the last minute to cover for Spain’s Daniel Juncadella on the final weekend of the DTM season at Hockenheim (16th - 18th October). He will be driving the PETRONAS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM. Daniel Juncadella has had to pull out due to illness.
Ocon has been the official test and reserve driver in the Mercedes-AMG DTM Team during the 2015 campaign. The young Frenchman completed his first laps at the wheel of a Mercedes AMG DTM C 63 during tests in December 2014 at Jerez de la Frontera. He has been allocated starting number 11.
Esteban won last year’s FIA Formula 3 European Championship title in a car powered by Mercedes-Benz, scoring nine wins and 21 podiums. In the 2015 season, he has been competing in GP3, a support series to Formula 1, as a member of the ART Grand Prix squad which is a longstanding partner of Mercedes-Benz. After 14 out of 18 races, he is currently placed second in the drivers’ championship, two points behind the leader.
