Weber Motors commences construction
« on: September 26, 2013, 08:59:01 AM »
Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada, today joined Tom Wilson, Dealer Principal at Weber Motors Ltd., His Worship Mayor Stephen Mandel, The Honourable Matt Jeneroux, MLA Edmonton South West, and other local dignitaries to break ground and officially begin construction of a new landmark dealership in South Edmonton.
Conveniently located near the busy intersection of Gateway Blvd and Ellerslie Road, the 4 acre site at 2120 – 103 A Street will soon become the new home of Weber Motors. Upon completion, the total structure will be more than 80,000 square feet, including an expansive new vehicle showroom and an impressive service area that alone will encompass nearly 24,000 square feet.
With a total of 23 service bays, including 3 dedicated to accommodate the
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and an additional 8-bay detail centre, the modern building will be much better equipped to serve the growing needs of existing and potential new clients.
The layout of the structure will follow the proprietary Mercedes-Benz “Autohaus” concept, which promotes the widespread use of glass to maintain transparency and create a bright, open concept feeling. In addition, the forward-thinking dealership design also takes into account the extreme climatic conditions experienced in the Alberta Capital Region, incorporating many components to ensure an exceptional customer experience. These attributes include a 6 car drive-through area shielded from the elements, an additional display area in the basement for new and pre-owned vehicles and a special climate-controlled holding area for customer cars that have already been serviced to protect them from inclement weather.
“Our highly coveted Mercedes-Benz vehicle range continues to expand, so it is only natural that our retail partners keep pace so that they are best positioned to represent the brand, showcase our products and deliver the sales and after-sales experience our valued customers have come to expect,” said Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. “I applaud Tom Wilson for his significant investment, and congratulate him and his entire team for their hard work and dedication at their current facility. I am confident that Weber’s new larger home and convenient south Edmonton location will provide an ideal platform for continued success in this important area for many years to come.”
The overall site plan will include enhancements to the nearby river valley area, including a pedestrian walkway and improved landscaping along Blackmud Creek. Local firm Camgill Enterprises Ltd. is responsible for construction, and the expected completion date for the entire project is early 2015.
