Mercedes-Benz Peterborough breaks ground
« on: January 11, 2013, 09:13:34 PM »
TORONTO, ON – Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada, and senior company executives joined His Worship Daryl Bennett, Mayor of Peterborough, and Peter and Michael Santos from Mercedes-Benz Peterborough to celebrate the official ground-breaking of a new retail facility in Peterborough, ON. Construction of the modern new structure will begin immediately on a 2 acre site that is conveniently located on Crawford Drive and prominently visible from the busy Highway 115 thoroughfare.

The new dealership will feature an 8,000 square foot showroom that will triple the current sales capacity for Mercedes-Benz Peterborough. A 10,000 square foot service area with seven state-of-the-art bays, including an oversized bay designed to accommodate the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, will also double service capabilities. In addition, a drive-in customer area will protect after-sales clients from inclement weather, and three dedicated charging stations will help accommodate owners of the highly anticipated new smart fortwo electric drive.

The layout of the new facility follows the proprietary Mercedes-Benz “Autohaus” concept. This promotes the widespread use of glass to maintain transparency and create a bright, open concept feeling. This trademark design also guarantees a consistent brand identity for each dealership in the company’s cross-Canada network.

Since taking ownership of Mercedes-Benz Peterborough in March 2011, Michael Santos has more than doubled the staff at Mercedes-Benz Peterborough. In addition, he has underscored the company’s commitment to the community through ongoing generous support of the United Way and the Peterborough Hospital, and a title sponsorship of the Mercedes-Benz Peterborough Club Lounge at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

“We are extremely delighted to continue our investment and devotion to both Mercedes-Benz Canada and to the City of Peterborough,” said Michael Santos, General Manager of Mercedes-Benz Peterborough. “We have seen tremendous growth in our business since its inception in March 2011, and this new facility is a monumental period in our company’s development. We look forward to providing customers with an overall experience that is commensurate with the Mercedes-Benz brand when we are fully operational in our new home.”

“Peter and Michael Santos are valued partners and colleagues that have firmly established themselves in the Peterborough business community since they joined the Mercedes-Benz Canada dealer network,” said Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. “This new facility further underscores their ongoing commitment to Peterborough and the surrounding region. The expansive new dealership will provide an ideal platform to represent our brands and more effectively serve the needs of existing and potential customers in this important and continuously growing market.”
