VANCOUVER, B.C. — car2go Canada Ltd., the fastest-growing carsharing company in British Columbia made a $20,000 donation to the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice on Wednesday, on behalf of the 10,000 members who registered with car2go in 2011. Canuck Place offers comprehensive care to more than 400 children with life-threatening illnesses and their families throughout British Columbia, by providing world-class health care in a home-like environment, with comfortable surroundings, personalized programs, and more than 100 staff and volunteers.

car2go in Vancouver
car2go opened its doors in Gastown, Vancouver in June 2011, and in less than six-months has grown to include more than 10,000 registered members. Since its inception, car2go Vancouver members have collectively taken more than 100,000 trips with car2go.
Unlike traditional carsharing and car rental companies, car2go members can use car2go with or without making an advance reservation, and without having to commit to a return time or location. Members pay only for the time they use the vehicle, by the minute, with discounted rates for hourly and daily use. Parking, fuel, maintenance and insurance are included at no additional cost.
Each car2go member in Vancouver is charged a mandatory annual ICBC fee for carsharing, in the amount of $2, which car2go puts into a charitable fund and presents to a non-profit organization each year. Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is the recipient of this inaugural donation.
The second-installment of the annual donation will be presented to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in June 2012, and will include $2 for each new member who registers by June 18, 2012.
