« on: September 02, 2011, 03:18:54 PM »
Mercedes-Benz Canada and its dealer network reported today that a grand total of 2,300 Mercedes-Benz and smart units were delivered to customers throughout the month of August. This represents a 2.9% year-to-date sales increase, with a record-breaking 21,336 units delivered so far in 2011.
A total of 2,021 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were retailed for the month. With 1,317 units delivered, passenger car sales outperformed August 2010 results and posted a 9.8% increase on a monthly basis. This propelled overall year-to-date growth for passenger car sales in Canada to 4.2%, with 11,593 units retailed.
Strong C-Class, SLK-Class, E-Class, and GLK-Class model sales contributed to August’s success. With deliveries up an impressive 30.8% from last August, the E-Class Coupe showed remarkable growth for the month. In addition, sales of the C-Class continued to post gains this month, with deliveries up a notable 17.9% in August.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 77.0% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 70.4% of overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 130 vehicles sold in August.
A total of 149 Mercedes-Benz Sprinters were delivered throughout the month. Year-to-date, Sprinter sales are ahead by 102.5%, with a total of 1,549 deliveries.
Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned sales also reported by far their best August ever with 1,313 units sold. This represents an increase of 333 units or 34.0% on a monthly basis, and brings our year-to-date growth to 26.3% with a total of 8,705 Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz units.
“We are currently in the process of transitioning our inventory as the 2012 models are beginning to arrive at our dealerships from coast-to-coast,” said Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. “While new vehicle inventory levels may be slightly lower than usual during this interim period, especially for our luxury light trucks, it is extremely rewarding to see continued exponential growth of our Pre-Owned sales in Canada. This demonstrates that the significant investments in our Pre-Owned processes and infrastructure have most definitely translated into incremental sales, allowing us to expand the Mercedes-Benz family in record numbers.”
