Mercedes-Benz Canada and its network of highly dedicated and committed dealers reported today that a record-breaking total of 3,286 Mercedes-Benz and smart units were delivered to customers in June. This represents a month-over-month increase of 5.7% or 177additional units, shattering numerous all-time sales records and further propelling the best ever year-to-date total to 16,760 units retailed in the first half of 2011. With a total of 9,682 units delivered throughout the three months ending June 30th, Mercedes-Benz Canada Group also celebrated the best second quarter results ever in the company’s history.
A total of 2,788 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were retailed in June, slightly ahead of June 2010. Mercedes-Benz passenger cars accounted for 1,708 units for the month, up by 6.6% while light trucks results came in at 1,080 units. Overall, total passenger car and luxury light truck sales climbed to 14,503 units for the first half of 2011.
Strong B-Class, C-Class, SLK-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLK-Class, M-Class and GL-Class model sales contributed to June’s success.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 74.7% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 74.8% of overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 215 vehicles sold in June. A total of 1,025 smart fortwos have been retailed so far this year.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter sales continued to expand across Canada in June with a total of 283 units delivered. A six-month cumulative total of 1,232 units is now significantly ahead by 748 units compared to last year’s results at the end of June 2010.
Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned sales also reported their best month ever with 1,340 vehicles retailed. This represents an increase of 241 units or 21.9% on a monthly basis, and propels the 6-month year-to-date sales to 6,124 units. At the end of the second quarter, Pre-Owned sales were ahead by 19.8% or 616 units compared to the second quarter of 2010.
