Mercedes-Benz Canada reports its best August ever

Mercedes-Benz Canada today reported its best August ever for the Group with a record-breaking total of 2,427 Mercedes-Benz and smart units delivered throughout the month. This represents overall growth of 7.4% for the month, and an increase of 3,054 units or 17.3% year-to-date with 20,725 vehicles delivered so far this year.
A total of 2,093 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were retailed in August, which is up 5.1% compared to August 2009 and represents the best August ever for the brand. After 8 months, total passenger car and luxury light truck sales are ahead 13.2% or 1,297 units and 20.5% or 1,252 units respectively. With 18,488 vehicles delivered year-to-date, combined passenger car and luxury light truck sales are ahead 16.0% or 2,549 units.
Strong B-Class, C-Class, E-Class, GLK-Class, M-Class and R-Class model sales contributed to August’s successful results. Demand for the GLK-Class remained brisk, with sales ahead 44.7% compared to August 2009. The E-Class Sedan also continued to dominate in its segment, and overall sales of the entire E-Class family which includes the Sedan, Coupe, Wagon and Cabriolet, were ahead an impressive 65.7% month-over-month.
The diesel take rate was 79.3% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 71.0% of the overall passenger car and light truck sales in August (excluding smart).
smart reported that a total of 173 units were delivered in August. Year-to-date, the smart brand has retailed 1,472 vehicles.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter continued to show positive sales momentum by reporting its best month ever with a total of 161 units delivered in August.
Mercedes-Benz Pre-owned sales also reported its best August ever with a total of 980 vehicles delivered for the month. This represents an increase of 29.5% or 223 units compared to August 2009, and overall growth of 27.5% or 1,488 vehicles for national Pre-owned sales year-to-date.
