DTM stars celebrate at 39th ?Ball des Sports?

Wiesbaden. Franziska van Almsick, Boris Becker, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and 1,800 more guests from the areas of sport, business, politics, culture and media celebrated on Saturday evening during the 39th ?Ball des Sports? at the ?Rhein-Main-Hallen? complex in Wiesbaden. The event was held in favour of the ?Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe? (German sports aid foundation). Among the party guests were race driver Ralf Schumacher, DTM champion Timo Scheider (Audi), Scottish DTM lady racer Susie Stoddart (Mercedes-Benz) and Audi works driver Martin Tomczyk with his partner Christina Surer. Their arrival in front of the red carpet already caught the attention: the race drivers came with the official DTM safety cars of the premium car brands Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

Under the motto ?Way of the world?, the ?Ball des Sports? once more combined a stylish gala atmosphere with sporty elements. The focus of the evening was on this year?s athletic world championships in Berlin. The official opening of the charity gala included a Berlin revue show with international dancing stars and solo performers in front of an impressive 3D backdrop showing the Olympic stadium. Roger Cicero and German band ?Die S?hne Mannheims? with their lead singer Xavier Naidoo were the other acoustic highlights of the evening. The sporty element was considered as well: between the table rows, athletes from the German pole vault selection showed their skills and the ?Sports parcours? allowed the guests to try their hand at boxing, fencing and goal wall shooting, guided by well-known sports personalities.

Traditionally, Wiesbaden-based notary Dr. Thomas Betzler, board member for legal and finance of DTM right holder and marketing body ITR e.V. observed the drawing of the raffle with prizes representing a total value of 500,000 Euros.

Like in previous years, the DTM was an official partner of the exclusive event and organised the official after-show-party of Europe?s most successful sports charity event. In a nicely decorated ambiance with two original DTM cars, the ?DTM Race Club? allowed the prominent guests to round off a successful evening in style.
