interest in CNG comes and goes with the price of gasoline/diesel.
I remember doing some work on this in the late 80s and then again in the early 90s...interest went away  the moment the price of gas dropped...
at one point I worked for a company that invested fairly heavily in a refuelling set-up for buses in Newmarket ,ON ( just north of Toronto)
CNG is much less ideal then Hydrogen, but cheaper to get, almost like propane, but safety concerns , bad weight ratios and limited fuel range will continue to make it difficult and exoensive to implement
