Gary Paffett wins Zandvoort DTM race

Zandvoort. For the second time this season, Gary Paffett crossed the finish line as a winner of a DTM race. After the sixth season round at the Circuit Park Zandvoort, the Briton was the first to cross the finish line, having completed 42 laps with his AMG Mercedes C-Class. For Paffett, it was the 16th DTM race win of his career. For Mercedes-Benz, it was the fifth race win of the season. Paul Di Resta completed the success for the brand from Stuttgart: at the circuit in the dunes, the Scot ended up second, 0.396 seconds down. Timo Scheider (Audi), who had started from pole position, finished third from his team-mate Mattias Ekström (Audi). The point-scoring positions were completed by Miguel Molina (Audi) with the best-placed 2008-spec car, Oliver Jarvis (Audi), Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz) and Martin Tomczyk (Audi) in fifth to eighth place. Lap 1 Paffett is leading from Di Resta, Molina, Ekström, Jarvis, Spengler, Tomczyk, Schumacher, Rockenfeller. Timo Scheider is only tenth.
Lap 2 Prémat gets a drive-through penalty for jumping the start. Engel into the pits - retires with a broken right front wheel suspension.
Lap 3 Prémat comes in for his penalty.
Lap 4 Scheider gets past Rockenfeller and is now ninth.
Lap 6 Scheider attacks Schumacher for eighth.
Lap 8 Scheider overtakes Schumacher on the inside at Tarzan corner and is now eighth.
Lap 9 Scheider gains another place under braking for Tarzan corner as he overtakes Tomczyk for seventh without much effort.
Lap 11 Spengler, Rockenfeller into the pits. They are the first drivers to make their mandatory pit stops.
Lap 12 Jarvis, Schumacher, Legge into the pits.
Lap 13 Molina, Ekström, Prémat into the pits.
Lap 14 Paffett into the pits.
Lap 15 Hairy situation between Cheng and Spengler, Spengler comes out in front of the Chinese. Di Resta into the pits.
Lap 16 Green, Coulthard into the pits.
Lap 17 Tomczyk, Cheng into the pits.
Lap 18 Ekström past Molina at Masters corner. Scheider into the pits.
Lap 19 All drivers having made one pit stop, Paffett is leading from Di Resta, Ekström, Molina, Spengler, Scheider, Jarvis, Rockenfeller, Schumacher and Tomcyzk. Jarvis into the pits for his second stop.
Lap 20 Prémat into the pits.
Lap 21 Scheider attacks Spengler for fifth under braking for Tarzan corner, but to no avail.
Lap 22 Rockenfeller into the pits.
Lap 23 Molina, Green into the pits.
Lap 24 Coulthard, Stoddart into the pits.
Lap 25 Spengler, Legge into the pits.
Lap 26 Ekström into the pits.
Lap 27 Paffett into the pits.
Lap 28 Without much ado, Ekström gets past Molina. Likewise, Schumacher makes way for Paffett. Di Resta, Tomczyk into the pits.
Lap 29 Schumacher into the pits. Spengler past Rockenfeller as the German locks up under braking for Gerlach corner, but Rockenfeller claims back his position.
Lap 30 Scheider into the pits.
Lap 31 Scheider rejoins ahead of Ekström in third place. All drivers having made their two stops, Paffett is leading from Di Resta, Scheider, Ekström, Molina, Jarvis, Rockenfeller, Spengler, Tomczyk and Green.
Lap 32 Spengler pushes Rockenfeller into a spin at Turn 8.
Lap 33 Coulthard past Legge for twelfth. Incident between Spengler and Rockenfeller under investigation.
Lap 35 No further action against Rockenfeller or Spengler.
Lap 37 Rockenfeller past Legge for 13th. Schumacher and Green battle for ninth place. They swap positions twice, Schumacher prevails.
Lap 39 Schumacher and Tomczyk battle for eighth place.
Lap 40 Molina and Ekström under investigation for alleged team order.
Lap 42 Final lap. Paffett wins from Di Resta, Scheider, Ekström, Molina, Jarvis, Spengler, Tomczyk, Schumacher, Green.
