Jamie Green wins DTM race at Norisring

Nuremberg. For the third time in a row, Jamie Green (Mercedes-Benz) is the winner of the Norisring round. After 2008 and 2009, the Brit also succeeded in winning this year’s race at the street circuit in Nuremberg. After 82 laps, he crossed the finish line with his 2008-spec AMG Mercedes C-Class, 4.932 seconds ahead of Mattias Ekström (Audi). Franco-Canadian Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz) finished third to extend his lead in the drivers’ standings. Oliver Jarvis (Audi) finished fourth in the race in Nuremberg, followed by Timo Scheider (Audi) and Gary Paffett (Mercedes-Benz). The final point-scoring positions were taken by Alexandre Prémat (Audi) and Martin Tomczyk (Audi) in seventh and eighth place respectively. An extensive press release with quotes will follow shortly.

Start Tomczyk stalls, Schumacher leads from Green and Spengler. Ekström is fourth from Jarvis, Di Resta spins under braking for the Schöller-S after contact with Prémat.
Lap 1 Schumacher is leading Green, Spengler, Ekström, Jarvis, Paffett, Scheider, Prémat and Engel. Tomczyk is 13th, Di Resta 16th.
Lap 3 Ralf Schumacher is under investigation because of an alleged jump start.
Lap 4 Drive through penalty for Ralf Schumacher - jump start. Prémat under investigation for the collision with Di Resta.
Lap 7 Ralf Schumacher comes in for his drive through.
Lap 8 Green is leading from Spengler, Ekström, Jarvis, Paffett, Scheider, Prémat, Engel, Winkelhock and Coulthard. Schumacher is 18th after his penalty.
Lap 10 Tomczyk overtakes Rockenfeller for eleventh under braking for the Dutzendteich hairpin. No further action against Prémat.
Lap 14 Jamie Green is 2.2 seconds ahead of Bruno Spengler.
Lap 16 Coulthard overtakes Winkelhock, Tomczyk also past Winkelhock at Grundig hairpin. At Dutzendteich, Tomczyk past Coulthard, after which Winkelhock and Coulthard tangle.
Lap 18 Winkelhock under investigation. The door on the driver's side of Coulthard's car comes off. Winkelhock retires in the tyre barriers at Grundig.
Lap 20 Paffett and Scheider battle for fifth place.
Lap 21 Paffett, Molina into the pits.
Lap 22 Di Resta into the pits.
Lap 25 Spengler, Prémat into the pits.
Lap 27 The first cars are being lapped.
Lap 28 Tomczyk into the pits.
Lap 29 Schumacher past Stoddart, he is now ninth. Stoddart into the pits.
Lap 31 Molina into the tyre barrier at Dutzendteich after a collision with Engel. Broken suspension left front. Legge into the pits.
Lap 35 Engel, Rockenfeller, Cheng into the pits.
Lap 37 Coulthard into the pits.
Lap 38 Ekström into the pits - rejoins in front of Spengler.
Lap 40 Jarvis into the pits.
Lap 41 Halfway through the race, Green, Scheider and Schumacher are the only drivers yet to make a pit stop. Behind them, Ekström is fourth from Spengler, Jarvis, Paffett, Prémat, Engel and Tomczyk..
Lap 42 Green into the pits - rejoins in front of Ekström.

Lap 44 After the first sequence of pit stops, Green is leading from Ekström, Spengler, Jarvis and Paffett.
Lap 45 Tomczyk attacks Engel for eighth.

Lap 64 Schumacher and Rockenfeller collide at Grundig hairpin in the battle for eleventh place. Both continue.
Lap 68 The gap between Green and Ekström is only 1.0 second.
Lap 69 Only 0.8 seconds between Green and Ekström.
Lap 72 Schumacher puts pressure on Di Resta in the battle for tenth place.
Lap 73 Only 0.5 seconds between Green and Ekström.
Lap 81 Green remains in front, the difference is still 0.5 seconds.
Lap 82 Green wins from Ekström, Spengler, Jarvis, Scheider, Paffett, Prémat and Tomczyk.
