The Swiss AMG customer team Hofor Racing claimed the third position in today’s 12-hour race of Mugello. The other two SLS AMG GT3 of Car Collection Motorsport and De Lorenzi Racing ended the endurance race on positions five and 22. Hofor Racing participated in the race with the driver quartet Michael Kroll, Roland Eggimann (both SUI), Kenneth Heyer (GER) and Christiaan Frankenhout (NED) and started the race from the fourth position on the grid. Start number 1 did not lag to establish itself amongst the leading group of the field and led the race for numerous laps.  Eventually, the SLS AMG GT3 fell back to the third position because of a tyre failure and ended the race with a backlog of two laps to the winner after 349 rounds driven.
The German AMG customer team Car Collection Motorsport ended the endurance race on position five. Start number two initiated the race from the ninth position on the grid and was piloted by the drivers Peter Schmidt, Gustav Edelhoff, Johannes Siegler (all GER) and Wiggo Dalmo (NOR). The Italian race gullwing of De Lorenzi Racing, driven by Lim Keong Liam (MAS), Gerald Tan (SIN) and Nigel Farmer (GBR), started the 12-hour race from the seventh position on the grid. Start number five finished the race on position 22.
The third position for Hofor Racing is at the same time the third podium position for the SLS AMG GT3 in the third endurance race of the 2014 motor sports season. The race was started on Friday, 14 March 2014 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon and was interrupted at five o’clock according to schedule. The re-start was initiated on the next morning at quarter past nine and the race was concluded today, Saturday, at quarter past six.
Michael Kroll, team manager and driver Hofor Racing: “After the success in the 24 Hours of Barcelona in September last year, we are now very pleased about today’s third position. Without the tyre failure we possibly could have achieved ven better results. Thanks to everybody in the team for the great performance!”
Jochen Bitzer, head of AMG Customer Sports: “My congratulations to the team of Hofor Racing for a great third place in the 12-hour race of Mugello. In three endurance races of the year with the participation of Mercedes, at least one AMG customer team wins a podium position for the third time. This makes us feel confident in view of the rest of the season. Thanks to the teams of Car Collection and De Lorenzi Racing for their performance with the SLS AMG GT3 in Mugello.”
