TORONTO, ON? Mercedes-Benz Canada reported today that a record-breaking total of 1,560 units were delivered to customers in February, representing a 12.2% gain and the best combined February ever for Mercedes-Benz and smart. On the Mercedes-Benz side, 1,419 vehicles were registered for the month, making it the best February ever with an increase of 18.6% compared to the same time last year, and pushing year-to-date growth to 14.7%. A total of 141 smart fortwos were sold throughout the month.
Very strong B-Class, C-Class, E-Class, CL-Class, GLK-Class, M-Class and R-Class model sales contributed to February?s success. In the second month that it is available in the Canadian marketplace, the all-new 2010 GLK-Class continued to post outstanding results. Sales of the versatile B-Class were up 18.5%, while deliveries of the E-Class AVANTGARDE Edition, enhanced with considerable additional standard equipment and no charge premium package, were also up significantly in February.
Luxury light trucks also reported continued growth in February; ahead an impressive 66.5% compared to 2008. The diesel sales ratio was 43.8% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC? units accounted for 75.5% of the overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).
On the pre-owned side, the company reported 420 vehicles delivered for the month of February.
