Mercedes-Benz Canada breaks the 20,000 mark for the first time and reports
its best all time October
   TORONTO, ON ? Mercedes-Benz Canada reported today its best October ever
   with a total of 1,990 Mercedes-Benz and smart combined units registered
   for the month. This is up 482 units or 32.0% compared to October 2007
   and represents an increase of 33.1% year-to-date. Total sales of 20,563
   units year-to-date establishes a significant milestone for Mercedes-Benz
   Canada by clearly surpassing the 20,000 unit mark for the first time in
   the company?s history.

   A total of 1,720 Mercedes-Benz vehicles were delivered in October. This
   represents the best October ever, a gain of 229 units or a 15.4%
   increase compared to October 2007 and pushes the year-to-date growth to
   29.2%.

   smart reported a total of 270 vehicles delivered in the month of
   October. Year-to-date smart has sold a total of 3,422 units, which is up
   1,244 units or 57.1% from this time last year.

   Very strong B-Class, C-Class, E-Class, SL-Class, M-Class and R-Class
   model sales contributed to October?s success. This month the
   award-winning C-Class continued to be a top choice among Canadians and
   was ahead 195 units for October. SL-Class deliveries were up an
   impressive 61.5%, and sales of the luxurious E-Class showed a gain of
   43.0% for the month. The company?s diesel sales ratio was 51.7% for the
   month while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC? units accounted for 72.7%
   of the overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).

   Total Mercedes-Benz passenger car sales of 1,246 units were ahead by 158
   units, a 14.5% gain for the month and up 33.0% on a year-to-date basis.
   With 474 units sold in the month of October the M-Class, R-Class and
   GL-Class continued to achieve strong sales on the luxury light truck
   side. Light trucks have grown 18.3% so far this year with 4,041 units
   delivered.

   On the pre-owned side, the company reported 488 Mercedes-Benz units
   delivered for the month of October. This brings the year-to-date total
   to 6,007 units, which represents an increase of 10.8% compared to this
   time last year.

   ?The strong momentum that has been steadily building this year continues
   through the month of October, and these outstanding results are a
   testament to our diverse and desirable vehicle range that continues to
   meet the individual needs of our valued customers,? said Marcus
   Breitschwerdt, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. ?We?ve
   achieved another milestone this year, and my sincere thanks go to our
   dedicated employees, strong dealer network, and especially to our valued
   customers who have made these stellar results possible. With only two
   months left in 2008, three new AJAC award winning models on the roster
   and our exciting 2009 vehicles already on dealer lots, we will continue
   to do our best to sustain this momentum and make this by far our best
   year ever!?

I doubt F-1 had much to do with it, and I do wonder when their sales will begin to be affected.

It's a good result for sure.

Good news but I suspect sales will have to suffer before they consider bringing in the A Class.

MBUSA Reports October New Car Sales of 14,996

MONTVALE, N.J. ? Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) reported October sales of 14,996 vehicles, bringing the company?s year-to-date volume to 192,294, a 5.3 percent decrease over the year-to-date record set last year.

Sales highlights for Mercedes-Benz USA include a 7.1 percent increase in M-Class SUV sales for the month. 3,150 M-Class vehicles were sold compared to 2,942 M-Class vehicles in October 2007. For the year-to-date, the popularity of the M-Class line of SUVs continued momentum with a 6.5 percent increase in sales (28,648 units vs. 26,902 units). Year-to-date sales of the volume-leading C-Class also grew. 61,959 C-Class models were sold so far in 2008, compared to the 49,882 units in the same period last year, marking a 24.2 percent increase.

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA sold 4,807 vehicles in October, an increase of 21.1 percent over October 2007. This brings its certified pre-owned sales to 52,753 units year-to-date, a 22 percent jump over the same period last year (43,224 units). This marks a record-breaking year for MBCPO sales, as MBUSA has sold more vehicles to date in 2008 than it sold in all of 2007 (50,929 units).
