Ross Brawn has escaped a driving ban after being caught speeding in Devon earlier this year.

The Formula 1 team principal was caught in a Mercedes-Benz E320 doing 100mph near Okehampton in May, after claiming he was late for an appointment.

At a hearing of Plymouth magistrates on Friday, where Brawn was represented by his lawyer Denis Brennan, he avoided a driving ban but had his licence endorsed with six points.

Mr Brennan told the court that Brawn accepted his guilt and was aware that he could have been banned.

"The traffic was light," Mr Brennan was quoted as saying by the BBC. "He fully co-operated with the police. He apologises."
