Stuttgart, Germany – Roman Zitzelsberger (born in 1966) was appointed as a member of the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG representing the employees by the Stuttgart District Court on November 4, 2015. The Stuttgart District Court (Register Court) thus followed an application made by the company.
Roman Zitzelsberger has been the district manager of the Baden-Württemberg branch of the IG Metall trade union since December 2013 and succeeds to Jörg Hofmann (born in1955). Jörg Hofmann became a member of the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG in 2008 and was also a member of both the Presidential Committee and the Mediation Committee. Hofmann was elected as the Chairman of IG Metall in October 2015 and has stepped down from the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG.
Zitzelsberger began his career in 1984 at the Gaggenau plant of the then Daimler-Benz AG, and already became a youth representative for IG Metall during his apprenticeship. He worked for Daimler-Benz in Gaggenau until January 1989. From February 1989 onwards, he held various positions at the Gaggenau administrative office of IG Metall, before being elected as district manager of the Baden-Württemberg branch of IG Metall.
