Audi's plans to remain in the American Le Mans Series for next year has been praised by series boss Scott Atherton.
The German squad suffered a tough season in the series in 2007, where the LMP1 R10 often lost out to the lighter LMP2 cars from Porsche.
Audi are targeting a campaign in the European-based Le Mans Series next year, but they announced on Friday that they plan to remain in America as well.
"Dating back to our first race at Sebring in 1999, Audi has been an integral part in the success of the ALMS," said Atherton.
"As we prepare to celebrate the 10th season of the ALMS, it is truly fitting that Audi - one of our key founding partners ? once again is positioned to be at the forefront."
Speaking at the Essen Motor Show on Friday, Audi's head of motorsport Wolfgang Ullrich said that the manufacturer would only race in a series if the rules mean LMP1 cars are the clear class of the field.
