RENAMED TOYOTA CAR TO TARGET YOUTH MARKET
« on: October 18, 2006, 08:13:53 PM »
Unveiled in Japan recently, Toyota's redesigned version of the Corolla model seeks to attract attention from younger buyers, according Reuters. For the first time in 40 years, Toyota has altered the name of the best-selling vehicle ? Corolla Axio for the sedan and Corolla Fielder for the wagon. The Corolla series is sold in 140 markets and built in 16 countries, with cumulative global sales approaching 32 million units since its 1966 launch. Features on the new 1.8-liter Corolla Axio include standard rearview monitors for parking and seatbelt pre-tensioners. The North American production date for the new Corolla is unknown, but projections suggest 2007 or 2008.

Relevance:

It is often the case that when OEMs target certain vehicle models to specific market segments (i.e. youth market) via themed marketing campaigns, they are generally successful in selling those vehicle models to that specific market segment?for example, Scion was successfully targeted at the youth market.
