Mercedes-Benz Canada reports its best September ever

Mercedes-Benz Canada reported today its best September ever with a total of 2,560 Mercedes-Benz and smart combined units registered for the month. This is up 459 units or 21.8% compared to September 2008, and propels year-to-date growth for the group to 8.9%, already shattering the 20,000 mark in Canada with 20,231 units retailed so far this year. Third quarter results also reached record-breaking levels with 7,088 vehicles sold throughout the last three months.
A total of 2,248 Mercedes-Benz vehicles were delivered in September. This represents the best September ever, a gain of 448 units or 24.9% compared to September 2008 and pushes overall growth to 17.9% with 18,187 vehicles retailed year-to-date.
smart also recorded a milestone by reporting its strongest month so far this year with a total of 312 smart fortwos sold. Year-to-date, smart has sold 2,044 units.
Strong B-Class, C-Class, E-Class, GLK-Class, M-Class and GL-Class model sales contributed to September?s success. Sales of the all-new E-Class line-up are off to an outstanding start in Canada with the Coupe and Sedan both posting exceptional numbers for the month. In addition, retail deliveries of the GL-Class were up an impressive 41.2% in September.
Mercedes-Benz passenger car sales totaled 1,332 units for the month, and 11,163 year-to-date. The luxury light truck side also continued to perform very well with 916 units retailed in September. This represents an increase of 124.0% compared to September 2008, and with 7,024 units delivered year-to-date, an overall increase of 96.9% for the segment.
The company?s diesel sales ratio was 71.7% for the month while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC? units accounted for 76.4% of the overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).
With 798 Mercedes-Benz units delivered, pre-owned sales also posted compelling numbers for the month. Pre-owned results were ahead 23% or 150 units for the month, and are up 15.8% for the year with a total of 6,224 units sold to date.

"In addition, we also announced that we will keep 2010 pricing nearly identical to the previous model year and celebrated the official launch of the all-new E-Class Sedan. This fascinating Sedan takes its place in the all-new E-Class family alongside the striking new Coupe, and these technologically advanced vehicles offer unmatched levels of luxury and safety and round out what is no doubt our most exciting model line-up in history."
