TORONTO, ON ? Mercedes-Benz Canada reported its best August ever today with a combined total of 2,260 Mercedes-Benz and smart units registered for the month. This represents a 10.9% increase compared to August 2008, and pushes combined growth to 5.9% with 17,446 units delivered year-to-date.

The Mercedes-Benz brand also reported its best August ever with a total of 1,992 vehicles delivered throughout the month. The Mercedes-Benz side is ahead 20.5% compared to August 2008, and up 17.0% on a year-to-date basis with a total of 15,939 units retailed. smart delivered a total of 268 smart fortwos throughout the month, and has sold 1,732 vehicles year-to-date.
Strong B-Class, C-Class, E-Class Coupe, S-Class, GLK-Class, M-Class and GL-Class model sales contributed to August?s success. S-Class sales were up 56.9% for the month, and the C-Class and GLK-Class models both continued to be outstanding sellers. Year-to-date, 5,048 C-Class and 3,416 GLK350 4MATIC units have been retailed.

Total Mercedes-Benz passenger car and luxury light truck sales were both ahead for the month; up 3.0% and 81.1% respectively. Passenger car sales total 9,606 year-to-date, and luxury light truck sales stand at 6,108 units, which represents a 93.4% increase for light trucks in 2009.

The diesel sales ratio was 62.3% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC? units accounted for 73.2% of the overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).

A total of 757 pre-owned Mercedes-Benz vehicles were delivered in the month of August. This represents a 33.7% increase from August 2008, and brings total 2009 pre-owned sales to 5,420 units; a 14.7% increase compared to this time last year.
