Grand Prix Drivers' Association director Mark Webber has urged McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa to become the new chairman of the drivers' body.
With the GPDA seeking a new chairman to replace Ralf Schumacher, who left F1 at the end of last year, Webber has made it clear just who he wants to come on board.
"Pedro, I would like him to do it," Webber said when asked by autosport.com about the GPDA situation. "But he doesn't know anything about it yet.
"He has a bit more time than the race drivers. He is very passionate about it, he is efficient and he is good for us.
"Hopefully Fernando (Alonso) and I can continue to be directors, and Pedro can have a bit more voice coming from a more neutral ground."
The GPDA members meet every Grand Prix weekend immediately after the drivers' briefing on Friday, and they could take a decision today about a new structure.
Webber added that he also hoped Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton would help boost the organisation by coming on board in the near future, although he did not think the GPDA's reputation suffered because of their absence.
"It would be nice to have the current world champion and some of the young guys that are the future of the sport," he explained.
"They are doing the testing as well, they are the guys who will get pulled out of the car unconscious if they have had a shunt, so they are benefiting as well.
"When there is not a lot of work to be done, it means we are going okay and getting ahead of the game a little bit. That is better than being reactive, losing one of our youngsters and saying we didn't have a good vision."
