Jean Alesi has said that he will return to race action later this year in a touring car championship in the middle and far east.
The Frenchman has been confident over the winter that he would be racing after deciding to leave the DTM at the end of last season, but he had given little away about his plans.
"I can only reveal that it's a touring car championship that will start at the end of 2007," Alesi told German magazine Auto Motor und Sport.
"It will be raced in the middle and far east, and besides me there will be six or seven other famous drivers."
Alesi didn't reveal any other details about the series, but according to reports he has signed a three-year deal to compete in the championship.
The former Grand Prix driver also revealed that he has not had any contact with Peugeot regarding their Le Mans programme.
The Frenchman said he'd still be interested in returning to the F1 paddock "with a big sponsor and get involved with a team". He hinted there was a possibility this could happen soon.
