World premiere in Geneva: smart fortwo BRABUS and BRABUS Xclusive with impressive performance and low emissions
Stuttgart, Feb 22, 2007
At the Geneva Motor Show (06 ? 18 March 2007) smart will be presenting the two BRABUS variants of the new smart fortwo to the public for the first time.
Rated at 72 kW / 98 bhp, the smart fortwo BRABUS and smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive have more than 30 percent more engine power than the BRABUS variant of the predecessor model. At the same time the low consumption and low CO2 emissions demonstrate that this does not have to come at a cost to the environment and customers' wallets.
In addition, the two BRABUS variants boast an extremely low weight to power ratio: at just 7.8 kg/bhp this is 24 percent lower than that of the previous BRABUS variant.
smart fortwo BRABUS: Greater power and sports suspension
The smart fortwo BRABUS places the primary focus on sportiness. Its three-cylinder petrol engine with capacity of one litre delivers 72 kW (98 bhp) and together with maximum torque of 140 Newton metres this lends the 770 kilo two-seater remarkably lively agility. The sprint from zero to 100 km/h takes less than ten seconds and the maximum speed (electronically limited) is 155 km/h.
The exterior of the smart fortwo BRABUS is first and foremost characterised by "Monoblock VI" alloy wheels, wider rear wheel arches, a sports exhaust system and fog lights. Furthermore, it has a firmer suspension setup and is lowered by 15 millimetres.
The interior of the smart fortwo BRABUS is distinguished from that of standard smart fortwo models by a number of BRABUS styling elements, for example for the gear knob, hand-brake handle and pedals. The speedometer, rev counter and clock also bear the BRABUS signature.
The same range of exterior colours is available for the smart fortwo BRABUS as for other smart fortwo models.
smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive: Luxurious equipment
Sportiness combined with a level of luxury that is unusual in this vehicle class ? that's the smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive. It does not differ from the BRABUS model in terms of drive and performance but it comes with additional equipment that leaves almost nothing to be desired.
Although it also sports wide "Monoblock VI" alloy wheels, wider rear wheel arches, a sports exhaust system and rear apron, it is nevertheless immediately recognisable as a BRABUS Xclusive. This is first and foremost due to the BRABUS front spoiler, BRABUS side skirts and the tinted clear glass headlights.
The interior of the smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive additionally features heated leather seats embossed with the BRABUS logo. A modified three-spoke leather sports steering wheel with steering wheel gearshift and BRABUS velour floor mats are also included in the standard spec. The instrument panel and door trim have a leather effect. Head/thorax side airbags, otherwise available as an option, are a standard feature in this model. These special side airbags protect the head and chest areas.
The paintwork of the smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive further underlines the exclusiveness of this model. It is exclusively available in the combinations (tridion safety cell/bodypanels) silver/silver or black/black.
The two BRABUS variants will be launched on the market in the autumn of 2007. The prices will be announced around the middle of the year.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
smart fortwo BRABUS and BRABUS Xclusive with impressive performance and low emissions
Stuttgart, Mar 06, 2007
The smart fortwo BRABUS: Powerful and agile
What started in 2002 as a joint venture between smart and BRABUS has developed over the years into extremely successful cooperation in the field of vehicle tuning. The great popularity of the BRABUS variants of the smart shows the increasing customer interest in individualised cars. Together with BRABUS, smart will continue to round off its model range with even more exclusive models. BRABUS variants boast both exclusive equipment and greater engine power.
The smart fortwo BRABUS places the primary focus on sportiness. Its three-cylinder one litre petrol engine delivers 72 kW (98 bhp) and develops maximum torque of 140 Newton metres. The transmission has also been configured for this. The first and the fifth gears have different transmission ratios to the pure, pulse and passion and ? given the light weight of just 780 kilos ? this lends the two-seater remarkably lively agility and enables a maximum speed of 155 km/h (limited). The car sprints from zero to 100 km/h in less than ten seconds.
The exterior of the fortwo BRABUS is first and foremost characterised by sporty "Monoblock VI" alloy wheels. These have 5.5 inch rims with 175/50 R 16 tyres at the front and 7.5 inch rims with 225/35 R 17 tyres at the rear together with external-mounted fender flares in the colour of the body. Furthermore, the fortwo BRABUS boasts a sports exhaust with a specially grained rear apron and fog lamps.
Special BRABUS logos and lettering embellish the body in the following places: a logo in the right and left mirror triangles and on the front grille, and BRABUS lettering on the rear. The fuel filler flap features an embossed BRABUS double B symbol in chrome. Further features include a panoramic roof made of polycarbonate, electric windows, air conditioning with temperature control and the "softouch" automatic gear programme.
A smart fortwo BRABUS wouldn't be a BRABUS if the tuning specialist from Bottrop hadn't also turned its attention to the suspension. This consists of four sports shock absorbers and four coil springs with a BRABUS-specific characteristic. The suspension lowers the fortwo BRABUS by 10 millimetres and also provides for more agile and direct handling.
The interior is distinguished from that of normal fortwo models by a number of BRABUS styling features. These include a BRABUS metal gear knob, a polished metal hand-brake handle and sports pedals. The speedometer, rev counter and clock also bear the BRABUS signature and the gauges, colour and styling of the numbers and pointers are all designed by BRABUS.
The same range of exterior colours is available for the smart fortwo BRABUS as for other smart fortwo models. Both the coup? and the cabrio are available as BRABUS versions.
The smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive: Sporty with top equipment
Sportiness combined with a level of luxury that is unusual in this vehicle class ? that's the top model, the smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive. Its individual equipment leaves almost nothing to be desired.
It does not differ from the BRABUS model in terms of drive and performance and it also delivers 98 bhp and 140 Newton metres. And although the BRABUS Xclusive also features wide "Monoblock VI" alloy wheels with the same 16/17 inch tyre mix as well as the wider rear wheel arches and sports exhaust with special trim, it is nonetheless immediately recognisable as a BRABUS Xclusive. This is first and foremost due to the BRABUS front spoiler, BRABUS side skirts and the dark clear glass headlights. These feature a matt titanium coating on the chrome-plated areas of the inner moulding. The door mirror triangles sport Xclusive instead of BRABUS lettering.
The interior of the BRABUS Xclusive additionally features heated leather seats and a contrasting silver seam. A modified three-spoke leather sports steering wheel with steering wheel gearshift and BRABUS velour floor mats are also included in the standard spec. The BRABUS logo ? the double "B" - is embossed in the headrest.
The instrument panel, door trim and door pockets have a leather effect. Contrast components such as the caps of the steering column control stalks or the speedometer rim shine in silver. Head/thorax airbags, otherwise available as an option, are a standard feature in this model.
The exterior paintwork of the BRABUS Xclusive further underlines the exclusiveness. It is exclusively available in the combinations (tridion safety cell/bodypanels) silver/silver or black/black.
The two BRABUS variants will be launched on the market in the autumn of 2007. The prices will be announced around the middle of the year.
