Premiere in Burgundy: DTM at Dijon

DTM

Wiesbaden - From 9th to 11th October, DTM makes its stop in France?s Burgundy region, with the circuit of Dijon-Prenois being the venue of the ninth and penultimate round of the 2009 season. And this year?s French DTM round represents a premiere for the most popular international touring-car series: for the first time, DTM is going race at the former French GP circuit located outside the gates of the ?mustard city?. Excitement is guaranteed as Dijon could be the venue of the early decision in the battle for the title. Consequently, the interest is massive: a few days prior to the event, the seats along the circuits are nearly sold out - while tickets for the standing rooms at the beautiful hilly landscape still are available.

The Audi and DTM drivers tested at the 3.801-kilometre ?Circuit Dijon-Prenois? in spring and were inspired by the characteristics of the high-speed circuit. To motor-racing enthusiasts, the racetrack is well-known as it was the venue of the legendary fight between Gilles Villeneuve and Ren? Arnoux in the 1979 French Grand Prix - one of the most thrilling battles in the history of Formula One. And the forthcoming DTM round promises to also provide excitement aplenty. Reigning DTM Champion Timo Scheider (D/Audi) travels to France as championship leader. Following his second win of the season, secured in the previous race at Barcelona, the German holds a 12-point lead over Swedish fellow Audi driver Mattias Ekstr?m. While the best-placed Mercedes-Benz driver in the battle for the DTM title, Briton Gary Paffett, follows another two points behind. Nonetheless, Scheider won?t rest on his laurels as he is well aware that ?Everything is possible, in DTM.?

The support programme of the DTM weekend at Dijon-Prenois will also feature the official DTM partner series, the Formula 3 Euro Series, Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and SEAT Leon Supercopa. And in addition, the open Radical European Masters sports prototypes will add to the action, too.
