Michael Schumacher, Belgium, 2010Mercedes GP has admitted it will need to make further modifications to its blown diffuser in time for the Italian Grand Prix, after encountering further problems with it overheating in Belgium last weekend.

The second iteration of its floor, which blows exhaust gases both into and over the diffuser, returned to the MGP W01 chassis for the Spa event following heatproof modifications that were needed after it was introduced for the first time in Germany.

However, the team still encountered more overheating in Belgium and team principal Ross Brawn has said that further efforts will be made to get it in a better shape for the next race in Italy.

"It is not completely solved," said Brawn about the diffuser overheating issues. "We are a bit frustrated that we have not found a solution yet.

"There are different materials that you can use on the floor and the area that is suffering, and we didn't anticipate it getting as hot as it does. Obviously the way the exhaust gas moves around the floor it is sometimes difficult to predict. It is not perfect and there will be a revision for Monza."
