David Coulthard will start from 13th place on the grid of tomorrow's Monaco Grand Prix following the penalty he received in qualifying.

The Scot was penalised for blocking Renault driver Heikki Kovalainen at the end of Q2 and stewards prevented the Red Bull Racing driver from taking part in the final shootout.

The official timing screen showed Coulthard down in 16th position, but the FIA stewards have clarified the penalty, and the Scot will be starting from 13th, right in front of Kovalainen.

A statement by the stewards said: "The penalty having been imposed during the qualifying session such that the driver did not participate in Q3 there will be a drop of two grid positions frtom the position shown in the Qualifying Session Classification (11th)."
