Di Resta expects tough end of season

Paul di Resta believes that the final few races will be harder for him as the newer cars in the DTM continue to improve.

The reigning F3 Euro Series champion has had some impressive results in his two-year-old car this season, but after his podium at Mugello he admitted that he has already noticed an improvement in the new cars.

"We are having to work harder, and it's going to keep getting harder as the teams improve the 2007 cars," di Resta told autosport.com.

However, the 21-year-old did not rule out more surprising results after he climbed from 12th to third at Mugello last weekend.

"It was a bit of a surprise," he said. "But (Mercedes boss) Norbert (Haug) said before the race that a miracle could happen and it did.

"This is what happens in motor racing. Hopefully before the end of the year something else will happen and we can get on the top step of the podium."

Di Resta has scored three podiums so far this season, and he is currently tied for third in the standings with Bruno Spengler.
