The governing body of German motorsport has decided to assign the success ballast for Hockenheim based on the Barcelona standings before Audi withdrew from the race.
Audi's decision to pull out of the race meant that all of their cars would have been able to lose weight for the finale, while Mercedes would have to add weight to all of theirs.
The DMSB has decided to distribute the success ballast based on the standings on lap 46 in Spain, three laps before Audi decided to withdraw from the race.
The changes to the weight limits from the original results are only minor though, as by that point Bruno Spengler was the leading 2007 car, and Paul di Resta was already the leading 2005 car.
The change affects the 2006 cars though, as Mike Rockenfeller was third in his one-year-old Audi on lap 46.
This means that the 2006 Audis will gain weight, which leaves them just five kilograms lighter than the 2006 Mercedes cars.
The older cars could have a crucial role to play at Hockenheim, where Mattias Ekstrom, Bruno Spengler and Martin Tomczyk can all win the title.
