Spectacular appearance of the DTM stars at the 38th ?Ball des Sports?
Wiesbaden ? This Saturday, Franziska von Almsick, Franz Beckenbauer, Vitali Klitschko and some other 1,800 guests from sports, economy, politics and entertainment partied at the 38th ?Ball des Sports? held in favour of the ?Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe?. DTM aces Martin Tomczyk and Timo Scheider (both Audi) as well as Mercedes-Benz works drivers Susie Stoddart and Mathias Lauda caused a stir right at the beginning of the evening: with flashing lights, they arrived at the Red Carpet of the ?Wiesbadener Festhallen? with original DTM safety cars. ?The ?Ball des Sports? is one of the biggest social events in Germany,? said Mathias Lauda, son of Formula 1 legend Niki Lauda. ?I?m delighted with being a part of it.? And Audi works driver Martin Tomczyk added: ?Meeting that many different sportsmen and sportswomen from different disciplines at a joint event is just great. It was an impressive evening I?m going to remember for quite a while.?

In the event with the motto ?Night of the Dragons?, the guest enjoyed a diversified programme. The opening by Shaolin monks and indoor fireworks was followed by artistic performances of singer Barbara Sch?neberger and an appearance of Fabian Hamb?chen, Horizontal Bar World Champion and sportsman of the year. Then, British pop musician Brian Ferry, founder of the legendary band ?Roxy Music?, entered the stage as midnight special guest. A special honour was bestowed upon Dr Thomas Betzler, Board Member legal affairs and finances of DTM rights holder and promoter ITR e.V. As solicitor, he supervised the drawing of the lots for the tombola featuring prizes for a total of ?600,000, with the first prize being a Mercedes-Benz S 320 CDI for about ?90,000.

Just as it was the case last year, DTM was official partner of the social top-class event and organised the after-show party following the official programme. In the exclusive ?DTM Race Club?, decorated with two original DTM racing cars of Audi and Mercedes-Benz, the prominent guests met for informal conversations and let the evening die away in relaxed atmosphere.
