Paul di Resta has been confirmed in one of Mercedes' four 2008-spec DTM cars this season.
The former McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner has been promoted to top Mercedes team HWA after an impressive rookie season in which he scored four podiums and finished fifth in the championship in a two-year-old car.
HWA technical director Gerhard Ungar believes the 21-year-old Scot is a future title contender but should not be put under too much pressure this season.
"This is another learning year for Paul," said Ungar. "We're not making any big plans for him because we should not be placing these expectations on him yet.
"He can win races this year but the main thing is to gain experience with the team. He can be a champion in the future."
