Bruno Spengler claims pole position at Nürburgring

Nürburg. For the second time this season, Bruno Spengler (BMW) will be starting from pole position into a DTM race. In qualifying at the Nürburgring, the Franco-Canadian claimed the best starting grid position for the sixth DTM season round. In the fourth qualifying heat, he was considerably faster than his three remaining opponents with his time of 1:24.284 minutes. Edoardo Mortara will be lining up alongside him on the front row of the grid. With his Audi A5 DTM, the Italian came within 0.221 seconds of Spengler’s time. On Sunday, Filipe Albuquerque and Mike Rockenfeller (both Audi) will be starting from the second row. Jamie Green was the best-placed Mercedes-Benz driver, he ended up seventh. 13:45 hrs   Mike Rockenfeller is the first driver to top the time sheets with 1:24.433.
13:46 hrs   Gary Paffett moves up into second place with 1:24.535, but is then toppled by Miguel Molina: 1:24.500.
13:47 hrs   With eight minutes remaining, Rockenfeller is fastest from Molina, Paffett, Wickens, Albuquerque, Green, Scheider, Vietoris, Hand and Mortara.
13:48 hrs   Tambay moves up into seventh place: 1:24.804
13:49 hrs   Farfus is the only driver yet to go out.
13:50 hrs   Spengler has moved up into second place: 1:24.444. Rockenfeller has improved his own time to 1:24.316.
13:52 hrs   On his next lap, Spengler improves to 1:24.293 and is now on top of the standings.
13:56 hrs   End of the session. Spengler remains fastest from Rockenfeller, Tomczyk, Scheider, Molina, Mortara, Paffett, Wickens, Werner, Albuquerque, Farfus, Green, Tambay, Hand, Schumacher and Ekström.
13:57 hrs   Frey, Vietoris, Priaulx, Merhi, Wolff and Coulthard aren't qualified for Q2.
14:03 hrs   Start of the next heat. Local hero Mike Rockenfeller is the first driver to go out.
14:06 hrs   Rockenfeller tops the time sheets with 1:24.415.
14:06 hrs   Tomczyk takes first place with 1:24.305.
14:07 hrs   Spengler is now first: 1:24.163.
14:08 hrs   Spengler improves to 1:24.131.
14:09 hrs   Four minutes before the end, Spengler, is fastest from Tomczyk, Mortara, Farfus, Wickens, Rockenfeller, Werner, Paffett, Green and Albuqerque.
14:13 hrs   Tomczyk moves up into first place: 1:24.025. Farfus improves to second: 1:24.086.
14:14 hrs   Farfus spins, but continues.
