I've seen that before.  it's pretty amazing what the car is able to withstand.

Heh...my best friend's sister just bought an '87 300E for $500.

I haven't seen it yet so I can't comment as to the condition; although I was told that she decided to have the sunroof sealed shut as the motor was not working anyways.

the W124 is one of the most reliable cars i have ever seen.
we've got A 300TE six years ago and it runs very very good.
except the Engine the blowed off.and the SLS maintainance.

you can see that the pistone is missing, the pistone arm is not looking that good.the exhaust valve made contact with the pistone at very high RPM and cozed this damage.the pistone came out from underneath.

the engine bay cought fire and after buring all wires and plastic stuff it turned off by it self.but we repaired every thing and it is stell running as new.though the new engine isn't as powerfull as the old one.my old man sais "that is because you keep the pedal to the metal"  ???
