« on: May 06, 2016, 02:10:30 PM »
Stuttgart – The 12th series of the FleetBoard Drivers' League will take place in 2016. From 1 June to 31 August, drivers from Europe, South Africa and China will again compete against each other at national and international level in the "Best Driver" and "Best Team" categories while they go about their everyday business behind the wheels of their trucks. Attractive prizes will be on offer for the winners with the best driving style grade. Interested drivers can register to take part from 1 May to 31 July at www.driversleague.com.
Once again this year, participants at national level will have the opportunity to secure monthly victories in the "Best Driver" and "Best Team" categories. At the end of the three-month competition, each nation's best overall driver and best overall team will be determined.
The best three German drivers will each receive a voucher for the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy and can enrol for exciting driver training sessions and driving events.
On offer as the main prize for the German winners in the "Best Team" category are three weekend tickets for a Formula One race in Germany in 2017 with seats in the Mercedes grandstand. The second-placed team can look forward to three tickets to a friendly match to be played by the German national football team, also in 2017. The third-placed team will receive tickets to the Truck Grand Prix 2017 at the Nürburgring.
The prizes for the other participating countries can be viewed on the Drivers' League homepage in the respective national languages. In Denmark, Romania, Sweden, Spain and the Czech Republic, the prizes will include vouchers for the Mercedes-Benz Shop. Drivers from Denmark, Great Britain and Slovakia can look forward to exciting trips with Mercedes-Benz.
The world's best three drivers will also be chosen this year. They stand to win as the main prize a weekend-trip including the travel costs to Hanover, Germany, to visit the International Motor Show for Commercial Vehicles in September 2016.
About the FleetBoard Drivers' League
In the Drivers' League, drivers compete against each other while they go about their everyday business behind the wheels of their trucks. The winners are determined on the basis of their driving style grade in the FleetBoard Performance Analysis. To be eligible for the Drivers' League, each driver must cover a monthly distance of at least 4000 km. A team consists of at least three drivers, who must between them cover at least 12 000 km each month.
The driving style grade is calculated for the period from 1 June to 31 August. Interested drivers can register online from 1 May until 31 July. The driving style grades of those participants who register after the official start on 1 June will be determined retroactively and will count towards the overall rating.
All participants can register on the Drivers' League homepage and create a profile with their personal data. There they can also view their current ranking in addition to checking the standings of their fellow competitors. The profile also shows any previously received awards. The personal driving style grade is based on a combination of wear- and consumption-related factors, such as anticipatory driving style, speed changes and braking behaviour.
The Drivers' League takes place in Europe in Denmark, Germany, Finland, Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and the Czech Republic as well as in South Africa and China.
