« on: June 04, 2015, 09:00:06 PM »
Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network announced today that a record-breaking total of 4,530 units were delivered to customers in May. These sales results represented a month-over-month increase of 26.4% or 947 additional units for May, thus shattering Mercedes-Benz Canada’s all-time sales records and further propelling its year-to-date total sales to 18,031 units up 15.6%. This is the fourth time in the company’s history, that Mercedes-Benz Canada has surpassed 4,000 units on a monthly basis.
A total of 3,935 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were retailed in May, which is ahead by 32.8% when compared to last year’s results. Mercedes-Benz passenger cars accounted for 2,287 units for the month, while light trucks results came in at 1,648 units, up by 37.4% and 26.8% respectively. Strong sales across the entire model line-up contributed to May’s record-breaking success, with particularly buoyant CLS and S-Class performances. The GLA continued to make solid gains throughout the month, while C-Class sales surpassed the 1,000 units mark.
In May, Mercedes-Benz Vans also overshot their previously established monthly sales record by retailing a total of 479 units. Year-to-date growth continued at a compelling pace of 11.8%.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 60.7%, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 91.3% of overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 116 vehicles sold in May.
Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned sales increased by 121 units or 8.7%, resulting in the best May ever for pre-owned sales with a total of 1,517 units sold. This pushed overall growth to 12.6% with 6,358 pre-owned units delivered year-to-date.  Certified Pre-Owned sales grew by 13.1% for the month and by 19.5% for the year accounting for 85 % of the total volume of pre-owned sales.
“As we gathered for our annual dealer meeting in May, it was with tremendous pride that we and the members of our dealer network looked back at our impressive achievements since the beginning of the year,” said Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. “This month set once again an all-time record for Mercedes-Benz Canada, which further supports that these unprecedented volumes are directly related to an impeccable combination of a stellar product range and a highly determined group of exceptional professionals.”
