Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network reported today that the company has delivered a grand total of 4,035 Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter and smart units in March. This represents an increase of 5.6% and the best month ever for the group. At the conclusion of the first quarter of 2014, 8,641 vehicles have been sold through the Mercedes-Benz Canadian retail network, which is the best first quarter ever for Mercedes-Benz Canada.
A total of 3,370 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were retailed in March. This translates into a 6.8% year-to-date sales increase with a total of 7,316 units delivered so far in 2014.
Overall passenger car sales totaled 1,911 units in March. This is ahead 15.8% for the year, and was propelled by impressive E-Class, CLS, SL-Class and S-Class model sales. On the luxury light trucks side, a total of 1,459 units were sold. This was fueled by M-Class deliveries growing by an impressive 36.5% from last March.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 78.2% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 81% of overall passenger car and light truck sales in March (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 320 units sold in March, which equates to a 188.3% increase when compared to the same time period last year.
A total of 345 Mercedes-Benz Sprinters were delivered throughout the month, which is ahead 16.2%. With 867 units retailed in the first quarter of 2014, Sprinter sales are up 15% or 113 units on a year-to-date basis.
The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division also reported a strong performance in March with 1,361 vehicles sold. This represents an increase of 92 units or 7.2% for the month, and helped bring year-to-date growth to 4.6%, with 2,984 Certified Pre-Owned units delivered in 2014.
